We start our indoor programme for 2008 with the extremely topical subject of the East Scotland Sea Eagle Release programme, and our speaker is Claire Smith, the RSPB Project Officer who is co-ordinating the process. The programme is due to run for 5 years and got underway with the release of 15 birds in 2007 from a site in North Fife, and birds have subsequently been seen in many local sites and further afield.  Sadly three birds have been killed already, raising a number of issues.  Claire will present details of the programme, the true stories of the highs and lows so far, and bring us up to date with events and what lies ahead.  This promises to be a great night!

We are particularly pleased to welcome Mark Maylin as guest speaker for tonight's meeting.  Mark is a Wildlife Liaison Officer with Fife Constabulary, based at Kirkcaldy.  These posts are voluntary and additional to the other responsibilities of a police officer, so are very much the province of dedicated individuals. Mark will take us through the varied roles of a WLO and how this varies during the year. With wildlife crimes very much in the public eye and on the political agenda this is sure to be a fascinating and insightful talk.

Our regular showcase of the skills and endeavours of club members who have been out filming top birds not only from Scotland but also elsewhere in the UK and even further afield. Be sure to come along and share in what always proves to be an entertaining evening.  We may even broaden the evening and get to have the quiz postponed from the AGM and December - third time lucky!

The annual gathering for the run-through of the club's finances and activities over the last twelve months.

Given a speedy conclusion of the official business there should be plenty of time for socialising and to take part in a brief second hand book sale to raise money for the club.  If all else fails this also provides a fourth opportunity to hold the short team quiz postponed from last year!  Please bring along items for the AGM sale to this or previous meetings.

Indoor meetings start at 7.30pm and are held at the Dean Park Hotel in Kirkcaldy.
