Sunday 24th February 2008 - St Andrews & NE Fife This trip will concentrate on some of the best birding areas of NE Fife at this time of year, including the outer Eden Estuary, St Andrews Bay and Harbour, Kinshaldy and Tentsmuir Point, and time permitting, Tayport. The range of species on offer should include: Great Northern Diver, Slavonian Grebe, Black-tailed Godwit, Greenshank, and possibly Peregrine, Little Gull, Snow Bunting or some other wintering surprise ! Meet at the car park next to the Golf Museum at St Andrews (opposite the R&A Golf Course Building), at 09:30. The car park is on the road leading out to the West Sands from the Golf Place turning off the A91. This is a short distance to the east of the roundabout in the NW corner of town where the A91 and A915 meet. **** 74 species seen on this trip ****
Sunday 23rd March - The Tay Reedbeds and North Shore The trip will concentrate on the best birding spots on the North shore of the Tay starting from the West end of the vast Tay reedbeds. Bearded Tit will be the main target and we will hope to meet up with members of the Tay Ringing Group to help increase our chances of top quality views of one of our most enigmatic species. Other species we may encounter should include Water Rail, raptors, wildfowl and waders. Numbers may have to be limited. Meet at Cairnie Pier (NO197192)at 09:30. Saturday 24th May - The Isle of May We will be booking a number of seats for a day visit to the island - with suitable luck our trip will coincide with a fall of migrants, but at the very least there should be the amazing spectacle of thousands of seabirds in particularly beautiful surroundings.
